D-Sig / D-Sig Plus

D-SIG IN AND OFF

General information

Our digital thread sewing machines

The Petratto D-Sig and D-Sig Plus machines create a seamless bridge between digital printing and traditional bookbinding. Compact, modular and highly adaptable, they are designed to meet the needs of today’s fast-paced, short-run production.

Thanks to their modular design, the machines can be customised to fit different production workflows – a flexible solution that helps reduce operating costs while delivering premium-quality sewn books.

One of the key benefits of the D-Sig line is speed: it drastically shortens turnaround times, enabling rapid delivery and reprinting when needed. It also contributes to waste reduction and supports sustainable production.

The machines can perform precise 1/4 or 1/8 folds and are ideal for producing sewn books that are strong, long-lasting, and professionally finished.

Reliable, fast and cost-effective, D-Sig and D-Sig Plus represent a long-term investment in efficiency and quality.

Printing

Sheets are fed directly by the digital printer. It is also possible to feed sheets from:

  • a pile feeder

  • single-sheet rolls wound up using Digi-Roll system

  • cutting systems combined with rolls of continuous printed sheets.

Sewing

D-Sig is equipped with:

  • a programming panel to introduce job data, i.e. number of sheets required to make up signature and number of signatures required to make up a book block

  • an interface with logic control to connect system to digital printer (machine ready, end of book, etc.)

  • controls to operate all sewing machine functions.

Optional attachments
  • D-Buckle: cross fold (8-page fold adjustment)

  • D-Mix: simultaneous processing of b/w and full color sheets

  • D-Turn: in-line connection with sheet rotation before folding

  • D-BJC: integrated in-line / off-line (by pass) connection

Other possibilities:

  • D-Exit: preparation / realization of folded-only

  • D-Stitch: connection to a wire stitching machine
